FRAUD ALERT:BEWARE OF AYOBO LAND –LAGOS LAND BUREAU.


Lagos State Government warns members of the public to be wary of the act of individuals, families, traditional rulers and communities who engage in the widespread indiscriminate and illegal sale of government acquired land at Ayobo in Alimosho Local Government Area of Lagos State. According to Hakeem Muri-Okunola, the Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Lands Bureau, who said the government’s attention had been drawn to the increasing illegal activities of fraudsters who deceived unsuspecting members of the public based on unconfirmed claim that they were the owners of the land.
Mr. Hakeem Muri–Okunola, has urged residents to be wary of the act of individuals, families, traditional rulers and communities, who engage in widespread indiscriminate and illegal sale of the state government’s acquired land at Ayobo in Alimosho Local Government Area of the state.  Muri-Okunola said all parcels of land at Ayobo containing an area of 455.76 hectares were acquired by the state government by virtue of the Lagos State Official Gazette No. 15 Volume 34 of May 5, 2001, and that the land was earmarked and named the Ayobo Residential Scheme.
Encouraging residents to take formal approach to verify the status of any landed property before acquisition. According to him, residents can avoid buying such property by obtaining Land Information Certificate from the office of the Surveyor-General and ascertain the status of the land before purchasing.
“The unsuspecting members of the public are, therefore, enjoined to take necessary caution by way of verifying the status of any landed property, else they may purchase litigation, which venture may end up as colossal waste of hard earned financial resources,” he said.
Muri-Okunola said the government’s attention had been drawn to the increasing illegal activities of fraudsters who deceived unsuspecting members of the public based on unconfirmed claim that they were the owners of the land.
